Right, Laura. Or the President, or the California legislature.
Everybody should have the choice of whom they can marry left up to them. As individuals. That doesn't mean they get to tell other people how to live their lives, no matter what they think of their choices. (I'm sure some libertarian will now start bellyaching about banning smoking in restaurants, etc.)
If gay marriage is banned, then people who are gay are certainly harmed, and their kids may be harmed too. If gay marriage is allowed, some straight people get grossed out. (Just like white people were disgusted by the idea of interracial marriage.) Can we get our priorities straight (as it were)?
We generally don't get to pick what other people do with their lives. Even parents can't control their grown children. How are you going to tell a pair of consenting adults that their relationship isn't allowed?
It's just a matter of time before this nonsense is behind us, I hope!
